It&#039;s easy to imagine that a delayed diagnosis carries many risks.<\/p>\n<p>More than 80 percent of rare diseases, such as alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, are caused by a genetic mutation. Due to their rarity, diagnosis often takes a long time and requires multiple doctor visits. For this reason, appropriate therapy often only becomes effective once the disease has progressed and organs have been damaged.<br \/>\nMediaplanet publishing house aims to combat this injustice with a special supplement in a national daily newspaper and online. The campaign \u201cOur Genes \u2013 Hereditary Diseases\u201d launches on December 14, 2015. We are participating, and our story is being featured.
