Wir halten es f\u00fcr besonders wichtig, COPD-Patienten dar\u00fcber aufzukl\u00e4ren, dass die Ursachen f\u00fcr ihre Erkrankung nicht ausschlie\u00dflich im \u201eRauchen\u201c zu finden sind, sondern auch genetische Faktoren eine Rolle spielen k\u00f6nnen. Tests auf Alpha-1-Antitrypsin- Mangel im Bereich der COPD sind meist selten \u2013 die Dunkelziffer an Betroffenen daf\u00fcr umso h\u00f6her.<\/p>\n<p>Wir gehen davon aus, dass rund 20.000 Menschen in Deutschland unter schwerem Alpha-1-Mangel leiden, bisher aber die meisten nur mit der Diagnose \u201eCOPD\u201c leben. Wie kommen wir auf diese hohe Zahl?<br \/>\nGeht man davon aus, dass etwa 6,8 Millionen Menschen in Deutschland an COPD leiden und unserer Vermutung nach<br \/>\n10 % Alpha-1-Mangeltr\u00e4ger sind \u2013 dann entspr\u00e4che das bereits 680.000 Menschen. Auch, wenn die meisten gl\u00fccklicherweise nur genetische Tr\u00e4ger sind, verstecken sich dennoch einige wenige mit schwerem Mangel darunter. Die Identifikation dieser prozentual \u201ekleinen\u201c Gruppe ist f\u00fcr uns von enormer Bedeutung.<\/p>\n<p>Um Aufkl\u00e4rungsarbeit zu leisten, hat Grifols ein neues Format gew\u00e4hlt: ein live Facebook-Webinar mit dem Titel: \u201eCOPD: Angeraucht oder angeboren? Ihre Fragen im Experten Live-Chat\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>Die Veranstaltung fand am 30.11.2023 um 18:00 Uhr statt. In dem Webinar ging es um COPD und AATM, um physische als auch emotionale Belastungen, denn t\u00e4glich machen die chronisch obstruktive Lungenerkrankung und ihre genetische Version, der oft unbekannte Alpha-1-Antitrypsin-Mangel (AATM), den Alltag aller Betroffenen zur Herausforderung. Symptome wie Atemnot, anhaltender Husten und Auswurf sind dabei st\u00e4ndige Begleiter.<\/p>\n<p>Der November ist der COPD- und Alpha-1-Awareness Monat, ein guter Anlass f\u00fcr ein solches Webinar.
