170 km in 48 hours on foot from Gronau (Westphalia) to Amsterdam

When my brother-in-law Robert told me that he, his friend Ingo, and Alexander, a colleague of Ingo's, wanted to walk (!) to Amsterdam in 48 hours, my first thought was: "That's impossible!".
It seems so!
Ingo Hoff, the initiator of the project, enjoys challenging himself athletically from time to time. He also wanted to support a good cause and take a clear stand against the rising tide of populism. The idea arose to run from Anne Frank Street in Gronau to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Personally, it was about the mental and physical challenge, and incidentally, it was also intended to raise awareness for the Ilse and Johann Hoff Foundation. My brother-in-law liked the idea so much that he spontaneously decided to join the run. Ingo's colleague did the same.
Said, planned, done
The press was informed, a private film crew was hired, and donors were sought, as the goal was to donate €10 for every kilometer hiked. On April 6th, they set off promptly at noon. A clever little feature: a live tracker allowed everyone to follow the trio's progress. Like a bit of a voyeur, I couldn't resist checking their progress from my desk. My respect for them grew with every kilometer. And it seemed I wasn't the only one. The planned donation amount was far exceeded, and two other projects ("Stolpersteine" in the Netherlands, the Rock'n'Pop Museum in Gronau) also benefited from generous donations. Since the donation pot still wasn't empty, and I'm always happy to promote our association, my brother-in-law ensured that Alpha1 also received a donation. THANK YOU SO MUCH! In conclusion: A brilliant initiative that, in my opinion, is absolutely worth emulating!
