From online meetings to in-person meetings: How Alpha1 Germany supports self-help groups

Self-help groups are independent, unincorporated associations (unregistered associations with limited rights within a larger umbrella organization). They are supported by the patient organization Alpha1 Germany, which offers self-help groups opportunities for training and exchange, as well as providing materials free of charge.

Depending on need, the group leaders and their deputies meet online (approximately 2-4 times a year). In addition, an in-person group leader weekend takes place every year. This weekend focuses on sharing experiences. Ideas for working in the self-help groups and for supporting the association's work are developed during this weekend. And one thing is not neglected: the fun and joy of seeing each other again, because all group leaders perform these tasks on a voluntary basis!
