Hello everyone, the SHG Alpha 1 Berlin-Brandenburg sends greetings to all those affected, the SHGs and the board.

The Corona pandemic in our country has had different effects on all of us; we have had to deal with this in recent months and accepted the decision that our SHG meeting could not take place as planned on June 5, 2020 at the „Alten Krug“ in Marzahn with a personal reunion.

For this reason, we looked for an alternative, and our idea of holding a "virtual" group meeting ultimately prevailed.

Our managing director, Peter Hübner, arranged for us to use the AOK-Nordost's "WebEx" video conferencing system, allowing us to hold a "virtual" group meeting (video conference). There were no costs involved, for which we are very grateful.

The first test on February 14, 2020, was initially conducted between Mr. Hübner and Ms. Netzel to check whether everything was explained clearly in the invitation by Mr. Hübner and whether a "virtual" group meeting could be successful.

Then it began: the first meeting, via video conference and telephone participation, was scheduled for April 29, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. Unfortunately, only three members took advantage of the opportunity. However, we are at the beginning and remain optimistic, so another invitation with a suggested topic was sent out for May 13, 2020.

This „virtual“ group meeting was better attended; we were 7 group members and one guest, a lung nurse from the practice of Dr. Eisenschmidt in Strausberg.

She informed us about the topic of peak flow meters plus diary, as well as about harmful influences related to our illness, and participated in the discussion by answering questions and giving good tips.

Although there were "only" seven of us, there was a lively exchange of ideas on topics such as peak flow, infusions (including self-administration), oxygen, face masks and shortness of breath while wearing them, and other personal contributions. Since our member Gerhard Beck also participated in the video conference, he was able to answer questions about dosage for substitution therapy.

We welcomed our new member, Rüdiger Z. and his wife, to this meeting; they introduced themselves and immediately joined the discussion.

Overall, our video conference was satisfactory; it would have been nice to welcome more members, but it will happen!

Consultations with group members revealed that they are interested, but need more intensive help, which they will receive at the next possible dial-in.

The next virtual group meeting will take place on July 1st, 2020 at 6:00 PM. We're curious to see who joins, and we're still working on one topic. We're not leaving our members alone during the "coronavirus pandemic"; we also call individuals from time to time to offer advice and support.

signed.
