Ronald Lüdemann, Treasurer Alpha1 Germany e. V.
Dear members,
Even though the weather was initially somewhat unpredictable, a cautious and subdued optimism is noticeable in many places. I, too, share this feeling and hope that we are at the end of a rather gloomy time filled with many fears and restrictions.
Last but not least, I also share the positive feeling about our organization's still relatively stable financial situation. I was able to take over a well-managed and healthy treasury from Ronald Lüdemann. And the prospect of our big anniversary celebration – where preparations are in full swing – further boosts my positive mood.
In this issue, I would like to address the joint funding of self-help groups at the federal level and the collection of contributions, which was discussed in the last issue of Journal 2/20. The promise was kept, and the funding has been approved!
Donations are also a vital part of Alpha1-Deutschland e.V.'s funding. Whether from individuals or large companies, donations are not automatic and must be actively solicited every year. Therefore, I would like to sincerely thank all our donors, large and small!
We want to continue to reliably fund various activities and support self-help groups in the coming years. A sound financial position is essential for this. Therefore, it is all the more important that fundraising remains a top priority. In this regard, you are welcome and encouraged to approach companies and organizations, inform them about the purpose of our society for people with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, and inspire them to consider making a donation.
Despite all the current positive signs, we must assume that money will not be so readily available everywhere in the future.
Here's a brief recap of the 2021 membership fee collection: Some of you may have noticed transactions on your checking accounts. This was due to technical reasons, as banks limit the total amount that can be collected. New agreements have been reached with our bank, Sparkasse Südholstein, so such problems should no longer occur next year.
Let us continue to look positively towards the future and look forward together to the big anniversary celebration!
Until then, all the best – especially good health!
Yours sincerely, Peter Hübner
