The first webinar series on the topic of "Everything that is (Social) Law!" started on September 6, 2023, and will run for a total of five sessions, always on a Wednesday evening, once a month. Our speaker and expert on social law, Nicole Scherhag, will be supported in the webinars by our moderators Prof. Dr. Rembert Koczulla and Marion Wilkens.
The past three webinars have covered current topics in detail:
- The webinar on September 6, 2023, entitled "Applications in Social Law," addressed common pitfalls in the application process for social law benefits. Potential errors and frequent problems were highlighted to help participants avoid them. Furthermore, tips and tricks were provided on how to successfully submit applications under social law. This included guidance on correctly formulating the application, selecting the relevant documents, and adhering to deadlines. Additionally, the topic of rehabilitation was discussed, explaining the various aspects and options for rehabilitation within the framework of social law.
- The webinar on October 4, 2023, entitled "Health Insurance Benefits," discussed the services that can be covered by health insurance. Various aspects of healthcare and rehabilitation for which health insurance can provide financial support were addressed. Another topic of the webinar was home self-therapy. Participants learned what to consider when conducting therapy at home and received tips to ensure safe and effective home self-therapy.
- The webinar on November 8, 2023, entitled "Severe Disability," focused on the topic of "Special Considerations for People with Severe Disabilities." The webinar explained various aspects to consider in connection with a severe disability. A key point was the application process for recognition of a severe disability. The webinar explained how to submit such an application and what documents are required. Furthermore, it clarified the different criteria used to determine the degree of disability (GdB). The webinar also discussed the various disability-related symbols that a person with a severe disability can apply for. These symbols serve to grant certain compensatory measures, such as a parking permit for people with mobility impairments or an accompanying person on public transportation. The webinar also presented the various compensatory measures that people with severe disabilities can claim. These include, for example, tax breaks, financial support for the purchase of assistive devices, and additional vacation time. In summary, the webinar provided a comprehensive overview of the special features of severe disabilities and informed participants about their rights and options.

Two further webinars in the series will take place in the coming months: on December 6, 2023 on the topic of "Working while ill" and on January 10, 2024 on the topic of "Need for care and planning".
