Dear Alphas,

We are very proud to now be a part of Alpha-1 Germany.

We are:

Christine Stukan; I am 60 years old and have been diagnosed with PIZ since 2009. Just two years later, I was dependent on oxygen therapy. Until I received a lung transplant in 2023, I experienced many facets of the disease. With this knowledge, I have already been able to help my sister a great deal.

and

Luise Behrens, I am 62 years old, have PIZZ (a type of oxygen therapy), and have been on oxygen therapy for three years. I was diagnosed in 2011. My dear sister, who was already dependent on oxygen at that time, was able to alleviate some of my fears by providing me with a wealth of information and background. Through many conversations over the past years, she has greatly helped me to manage and accept my illness.

Throughout our own experiences with this illness, we have encountered and navigated many facets of our condition. We would like to share these experiences with you, support you, and work together to find ways to make everyday life with Alpha-1 easier.

Our shared motto:

„We will not allow Alpha1 to control our lives – because giving up is not an option.“

With this in mind, we look forward to lively interaction at our meetings – to interesting conversations, open exchange, and lots of fun with you. Together, we can become a friendly and strong group.

Luise and Christine
