September 25, 2021: Open Day at the Ballenstedt (Harz) Lung Clinic

Oh, how wonderful, it's starting again! The first public event after the start of the Corona pandemic, and we, the SHG Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, were allowed to present a stand for Alpha1 Germany eV.

We have missed being able to introduce the association and thus our self-help activities to interested guests, doctors and nursing staff.

But now, one step at a time:

The day began with setting up the stand from 8:00 a.m. Phew, not that early? We decided to travel to Ballenstedt the day before and stay overnight at the VEB Kraftverkehr Ballenstedt, now the Harz Guest and Seminar House, a guesthouse near the train station.

And since we had some time before checking in, we visited the Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor) and Thale. I'd like to show you some photos and a video here; we were very active.

It was a good idea, because if we had started from Leipzig on the 25th, it would have been very tiring for me. So we found a nice restaurant in Ballenstedt for dinner and then went to bed. In the morning, we had a decent breakfast at the guesthouse. We were in a hurry because we still wanted to set up our stall. But breakfast lasted until 9:00 a.m., and then we drove up to the clinic.

Once everything was set up, the first interested parties arrived and we were able to have many conversations.

We were able to showcase our stand effectively; the blue light attracted attention. And on the right, I'm talking to interested parties.

Yes, and as every year, there was plenty of entertainment provided by the clubs of the region, the volunteer fire brigade, the gospel choir and the band.

We were able to present ourselves here at the Ballenstedt Lung Clinic until 3:00 PM. I personally was also able to ask my oxygen supplier some questions. I also received a lot of information from the company that organized the "My Breath, My Path" information day. The aim is to hold similar events in Leipzig again in 2022.

Overall, it was a very successful day and we were able to share a lot of information.

Best regards
