Aachen invites you: first Alpha1 examination and patient day 2021

Ladies and gentlemen, dear Alphas,
Since this year's information days and anniversary celebration of Alpha1 Deutschland e.V. have to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the hotel's cancellation, we would like to offer you an examination and information day on the topic of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD) at our facility in Aachen. As usual, the focus will be on liver involvement, but this time we would also like to offer various lung examinations.
The patient day is being held in cooperation with Alpha1 Deutschland eV, who will also be represented on site.
Special liver and lung examinations at a glance:
Who: Patients with AAT deficiency (In the course of the pandemic, especially those with severe AAT deficiency (genotype Pi*ZZ/Pi*SZ) and/or with pre-existing liver abnormalities (elevated liver enzymes, liver fibrosis, etc.).
When: Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 9 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m.

Your AAT deficiency not only affects the lungs, but can also impair the liver. This can affect people Any AAT genotype and any age may be affected. Overall, liver involvement is the Second most common cause of reduced quality of life and life expectancy. Since there is no established preventative care or early detection method, liver damage is unfortunately usually only diagnosed late, if at all. This is exacerbated by the fact that Affected patients may have no or only nonspecific symptoms, and routine diagnostic tests (e.g., liver function tests) often show no abnormalities. It is therefore of great importance to detect liver involvement early in order to avoid complications and long-term consequences such as liver cirrhosis.. Furthermore, the first treatment options are available within the framework of clinical trials.
We have made it our mission to... to systematically investigate neglected liver involvement in AAT deficiency, ...but not forgetting the lungs. This should... The care of affected patients will be improved.. Our multicenter study group, with its study center in Aachen, uses various examination methods, such as a special type of ultrasound, lung function tests, and blood draws. All study participants receive a comprehensive analysis of their individual risk and corresponding recommendations. Furthermore, we evaluate how you might benefit from new drug trials. Furthermore, depending on demand, we would like to, exciting presentations on the topic of lung and liver involvement in AATD We will offer a variety of activities. Furthermore, there will be opportunities for networking throughout the day and a wide range of information sessions. Naturally, all of this will take place under appropriate hygiene protocols and safety precautions.
