Alpha-1 Global: Research Conference and Patient Congress in Lisbon

The 3rd International Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Research Conference and the 6th Alpha-1 Global Patient Congress took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from April 5th to 8th, 2017. The two events aimed to bring together patients and scientists from around the world to discuss developments in research, clinical care, and patient support.

The research conference brought together 32 leading scientists and physicians specializing in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. Key topics included:

  • News from the field of stem cell therapy
  • The role of macrophages in gene delivery
  • Treatment of lung and liver diseases

The patient congress brought together patients, scientists, clinicians, and industry partners from 34 countries. Alpha1 Germany was also represented there by our chairwoman, Marion Wilkens.
