The German Lung Day takes place annually in various locations. Its aims are to raise public awareness of respiratory and lung diseases, to alert those affected to early warning signs, and to promote research and teaching in the field of pulmonology.

In 2023, there was also a Lung Day on October 7th under the motto "Lung Day moves – prevention, physical activity, rehabilitation".

Around Lung Day, many events are offered in different locations and on different topics, which are held every year under www.lungentag.de will be published.

The central event took place at the Charité hospital in Berlin, which they also here Professor Marek Lommatzsch, spokesperson for the German Lung Day section of the German Respiratory League, had the opportunity to..., Roland Kaiser to interview him. The account of his life with COPD and the subsequent lung transplant, as well as his journey back to a healthy life, is very much worth listening to and reveals the emotions the singer experienced. "I never perceived the new lung as a foreign organ, but rather as a new life partner," said Kaiser.
