Our meeting at the lake
It was supposed to be a lovely August hike followed by a get-together in a beer garden. But Barbara and I had chosen the rainiest day of the past few weeks.
The hike was supposed to start at 2:30 pm. I had actually expected everyone to meet in the hotel's dining rooms around 3:00 pm, but a hiking couple with a dog was waiting.
So the four of us took a walk through Cologne's city forest. Two rain showers along the way didn't bother us, and we arrived at the hotel in good spirits. The group of eighteen people was already waiting, but Barbara had already greeted them.
It was the first meeting after the pandemic, and everyone was excited. But it was as if the break had never happened. We had a wonderful afternoon with many interesting conversations and encounters. Everyone enjoyed coffee, waffles, cake, and delicious salads.
We parted ways around 6:30 pm, satisfied with the event. We are now looking forward to the meeting at the Cologne-Ehrenfeld community center next spring.
