Annual General Meeting and Information Day 2019 in Göttingen

Alpha1 Germany eV.

This year, it was noticeable for us volunteers: the organizational planning with the hotel was significantly easier, as we had already held two information days there, they knew us, and a great deal had already been discussed and optimized together.

Around 250 participants had registered again, and we started the members' meeting on Friday afternoon with a large suitcase full of Alpha1 experiences. There was much to report, much to discuss, and some things – like the video presentations – to admire.

On Saturday, we invited top-notch speakers with fascinating topics: from infections and vaccinations to volume reduction and liver function, and even the impact of rehabilitation on our muscles, there were detailed discussions. The legal aspects of advance healthcare directives and powers of attorney were also covered. As always, we made sure our participants not only gained theoretical knowledge but also had the opportunity to take something practical home with them. This information day featured an introduction to singing together, focusing on proper breathing techniques.

And what did our Alpha Kids get up to? Their program ranged from bowling and kickboxing to face painting, crafts, games, a treasure hunt, and a puppet show. The Alpha Teens embarked on a journey into the world of media, learning about media professions, PR work, and the application of various techniques. They also enjoyed a round of bowling and had fun playing blacklight mini-golf. The best part for us is that so many of our Alpha Kids and Teens look forward to seeing each other every year and are happy to come to the meetings.

And since sometimes all good things come in fours, we are looking forward to another joint information day meeting at the Hotel Freizeit In in 2020. It will take place from May 15th to 16th, so dear members: SAVE THE DATE.

Sincerely, Gabi Niethammer, as published in Alpha1 Journal 1-2019.
