The Rare Diseases Run 2026 is over – and once again this year, people from Alpha-1 participated. The virtual run offers a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of rare diseases together and simultaneously collect donations for the work of patient organizations.

Members and supporters of Alpha1 Germany also participated. It was particularly wonderful to see that small running groups formed from within our self-help groups. For example, members of the Franken and Hamburg self-help groups started the race together. The focus wasn't just on exercise, but above all on community, motivation, and shared commitment to Alpha-1.

Alpha1 Germany was able to raise €780 in donations through participation in the Rare Diseases Run. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who ran, donated, or motivated others to participate! Every single contribution helps us continue our work for people with Alpha-1 and raise awareness of the disease.

Mark your calendars now: Rare Diseases Run 2027

The next Rare Diseases Run will take place from February 22nd to 28th, 2027. We would be delighted if even more people from the Alpha-1 community could join us next year. All the results from the 2026 Rare Diseases Run are available on the website:

Perhaps new running or walking groups will soon emerge from the support groups? Whether you're athletically ambitious or simply participating for fun – the most important thing about the Rare Diseases Run is that we collectively send a message: for greater awareness, more knowledge, and better care for people with rare diseases. We're already looking forward to the next run together!
