Within the framework of the Alpha1 liver study at Aachen University Hospital, we are increasingly focusing on rare genotypes. Currently, data on these genotypes is very limited, which complicates patient counseling. To change this, we need to understand what happens to the rare Alpha1 variants within cells. To avoid invasive liver biopsies, we want to investigate the turnover of these variants in blood cells and use them as a window into the liver.
On June 11, 2022, we are organizing a patient day at our clinic in Aachen as part of the Alpha-1 study, and we would be delighted to welcome you. Several presentations on Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency will be given, and we will also be offering the standard liver and lung examinations. In addition, we would appreciate it if you could provide us with a blood sample for the tests described above. A standard blood draw is sufficient for this.
