Meeting of the self-help groups Saxony & Saxony-Anhalt – A surprising end

On November 4, 2017, the active members of the self-help group for Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt met for their last meeting of the year. A surprise had already been announced in the invitation. We hadn't considered that RB Leipzig, the Red Bulls, were playing a match at the stadium that same day, this time against Hannover 96. Nor were we aware that the Leipzig Opera Ball was scheduled to take place that evening.

Our surprise, however, has nothing to do with either of these events. Our members met in Augustusplatz late in the morning. The Mende Fountain stands in front of the Gewandhaus; it's a popular, central meeting point in Leipzig. The Gewandhaus Orchestra is celebrating its 275th anniversary this year.

Once everyone had arrived, we walked together to the Panorama Tower (formerly the Uniriese). The elevator took us up 29 floors. We still had to climb two more floors on foot to reach the observation deck. So you could say we were high above the rooftops of Leipzig. After taking in the view, we went to the restaurant for lunch. During the conversation, the next meetings, one in March 2018 and one in June 2018, were already discussed. The exact location and date will be determined next year. This time, we were able to invite Ms. Klass as our guest. She is responsible for [missing information] in Leipzig. SKIS is the self-help contact and information center of the city of Leipzig.

Ms. Klass provides invaluable support for our self-help work here in Leipzig and is always a competent contact person for us when it comes to contacts and assistance. That's reason enough for us to say thank you in this way.

After three hours, the time had finally come. We wished our loyal members a wonderful Advent season and hope to see everyone again in March in good health. Of course, we remain available online and by phone, but there will be no further meetings this year.

For us, a beautiful day with perfect weather ended in the restaurant of the Panorama Tower in the heart of Leipzig.

Best regards
