Our new explainer videos: Making-of

I met with Markus Baltensperger twice in his small but excellent recording studio to record the two new Alpha1 explainer videos. Surrounded by guitars, drums, electric pianos, and electronic cellos, Markus sat in front of his mixing console and two large monitors. In front of him was a window leading to a second soundproof room—my workspace.
So there I was, standing opposite him, separated by glass, with a large microphone in front of my face and bulky headphones on. A screen was mounted above me, displaying the video as I spoke. The professional, Markus, gave me a glass of water to keep my lips from sticking and making smacking noises.
And then it began: acting as a mediator between the text in front of me and the screen above, I read, hearing my own voice sound quite unfamiliar through the headphones. After the second run-through, Markus asked me to emphasize certain words even more to draw attention to them. The third run-through was perfect, and I watched Markus adjust my text so that it perfectly matched the visuals. Even subtle nuances in the audio frequency could be tweaked. It was fascinating to see how quickly the videos were brought to life.
A very heartfelt thank you to Markus Baltensperger, who once again made it possible for us to create the explainer videos so easily with his boundless enthusiasm. We are very much looking forward to seeing him and hearing his music in Göttingen in April.
