Readers, Alphas and their families,
I already wrote about the motto for 2019 in the last issue of the Alpha1 Journal and would like to address it again now, because saying it is easier than doing it:
„"Get off the sofa – get into life!"“
It's easy to come up with something: Do more sports, train, get out and about, participate in social life, get involved – maybe even for Alpha1?!
Yes, many things come to mind, and you will read about some of them here.
But is it just as easy for me to put that motto into practice in everyday life? Definitely not. I've been living in Hesse for a year and a half now and still haven't joined a new sports group. I'd rather send the kids than walk up the stairs myself, and I almost cancelled an event recently because it was advertised as a hike.
But I'm working on it, you could say I'm working hard on myself… I told the children they don't want to help me with the stairs anymore and what can I say – they didn't
I happily complied with the plan, and that can't be undone now. I asked the hiking group to simply wait for me at the stations. In fact, there was always someone who walked at my pace – it was a wonderful trip.
I admit, many things are easier said than done – and getting started is especially difficult. That makes it all the more important to bring our motto to life. Help us, leave your comfort zone – "the sofa" – and persuade yourself or your self-help group to try other activities, take the initiative, and get out there! Ask yourself, what can I do for others, and you'll see, others will gladly do something for you too…
In this spirit, Journal 1/2019 offers a diverse collection of articles compiled by numerous authors, reporting on the many active members who make up an organization like Alpha1 Germany. This makes this issue particularly comprehensive.
For me, being able to be part of the club is always a motivation.
