Dear members,
We look back on a winter and spring full of events.
Our information day, in particular, with over 200 visitors, was a real challenge for us, but also a reward for our work, which we still do on a voluntary basis in our free time. When you receive so much positive feedback, it's worth every minute of work.
After the event, we also start thinking about the journal. We on the board then ask ourselves what we want to report on. What would you, our members, like to read? We can't include everything that happens in the Alpha world in our journal, but we still want to tell you as much as possible and keep you informed.
This time, choosing the topics was easy, as we had asked you at our members' meeting what you liked and what interested you. You can see the details of the evaluation on pages 32 and 33.
I was personally very pleased that most of you are keen to stay informed about new developments in science and research, and that our current mix of content is well received; we are apparently on the right track – as your ratings have shown us. Thank you very much.
Articles specifically on nutrition and mental health were requested; we have gladly included one in this issue (see pages 34-37), and we will report on mental health in the second issue of 2016.
The personal and emotional aspects shouldn't be neglected either; this was also your wish. Udo Held's report came at just the right time. He didn't give the shirt off his back, but he did donate his only children's book – all for a good cause. And then there's the story of Mr. Lüdemann, who really just wanted to have a party… – but read it for yourself.
Our survey isn't just about gathering information about the current situation; it's also an invitation for you to tell us what's on your mind, both now and in the future. Now, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the read!
Stay healthy and well,
Yours sincerely, Marion Wilkens
