Dear readers, Alphas and their families, dear supporters,
I've often asked myself lately which word best describes my current situation?
Perhaps "fear"? Because yes, I am afraid and I have to learn to deal with it. Repression isn't a good approach; the fear always resurfaces at night. And apparently, so are the people who walk shoulder to shoulder without masks in the streets to fight for mask freedom during this pandemic. Hard for me, as an alpha male, to understand.
One might say, let them get infected, but unfortunately this affects us all – hospitals are reaching their limits and we should show our respect for nurses and doctors by doing everything we can to relieve them.
Or perhaps "willingness to help"? Perhaps this word better describes the situation? Let's take my pulmonologist as an example, who is retiring and at the same time offers to write the article (page 9) on the topic of vaccination for us.
We often hear that people are becoming lonely due to the coronavirus crisis. Is "loneliness" an issue for me? No, there's always a lot going on at our house. When the phone is silent, my children are talking, and—if he gets a chance to speak—my husband is too. Ms. Tempel describes on page 11 how loneliness can be perceived differently by different people.
Ultimately, I choose the word "together," because only together can we get through this time. If everyone follows the coronavirus measures, we will succeed. If everyone is considerate, supports each other, and ensures that no one is alone, then we will be able to live with Covid-19.
By the way: „Together we are strong“ is our motto for the anniversary year 2021. And we are strong – we Alphas especially.
