As announced in the last newsletter, we would like to take you into the exciting world of research – towards possible future therapies and the hope that arises from them.
Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency is the focus of numerous studies, and we will be reporting on some of them in the coming weeks. (See page...) clinicaltrials.gov There are currently 132 studies on this topic. Filtering the results to show studies that are recruiting or about to recruit, and those that are already underway (recruitment complete), still leaves 31 relevant research projects. We will not be able to report on all of them.
We'll start with the Takeda study, followed by Wave, Intellia, and many more, including an article on the potential use of biologics. Our newsletters explore innovative therapeutic approaches such as DNA editing, gene addition, RNA editing, and more. Unfamiliar with these terms? That's precisely why we'll be delving deeper into these topics in upcoming issues. Stay tuned!
Artificial intelligence in medicine: opportunity or risk? Register for the webinar now!
In cooperation with Grifols, we would like to prepare you for a possible future – or simply discuss the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine. Is AI a great opportunity, especially for rare diseases? Or does it rather pose the risk of becoming a frightening "doctor-replacing monster" that leads us astray?
In the AI webinar on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM (Duration: 90 minutes) Under the motto "Find the Zebra – Find the Alpha," we invite you to learn more about the significance of AI for patients. Fabian Lechner from Philipps University of Marburg will speak about "AI and Rare Diseases – How We Can Find Solutions Faster." But what happens when "Dr. Google" fails? Can AI support the human doctor? Dr. Rainer Glöckl from Schön Klinik Berchtesgadener Land will explore this fascinating question.
Look forward to an evening full of insights that will put even a thriller to shame!
