Meeting of the self-help group Alpha-1 Berlin-Brandenburg
Date: August 12, 2021; at the MC Hartung restaurant in Teltow OT Ruhlsdorf
Petra Netzel, Deputy Group Leader of the Berlin-Brandenburg Self-Help Group
Folks, today we have some positive news to share – and we're doing it with a smile on our faces.
In the garden of the inn
Finally, our first in-person group meeting outdoors.
The turnout was fantastic, and everyone was delighted to be able to meet. Our group leader, Peter Hübner, welcomed those present and introduced Ms. Yvonne Radke as a new member of the Alpha1 association.
We also welcomed Sebastian Albers and Hartmut Hoeing. They attended the meeting as newcomers to our self-help group, although both have been members of the association for many years.
Next, our members were personally introduced. This gave everyone an overview, including which type of Alpha1 the attendees suffer from.
Our attendance list also included a column called "Corona" with genesen, gvaccinated, gIt was tested, this had to be taken into account.
A brief discussion about the coronavirus followed. The psychological strain of isolating friends and family was significant. The fear of infection was, and still is, a pressing concern.
Two families from the group contracted Covid-19. They described their cases as varying in severity, some less severe than others.
Therefore, the group members are cautious and continue to wear face masks, especially during cold and flu season.
Monika Svoboda said she was glad to be in this support group. She feels supported and gets quick answers to her questions. That's why we talk to each other on the phone and have a WhatsApp group. This offers another way to communicate. We send emoji smiles, kind words, vacation stories, or other important information. You're not alone!
Furthermore, Peter Hübner addressed the virtual meetings. These will continue to be held, due to the current situation with COVID-19 and for group members who cannot attend in-person meetings.
Our future group meetings will alternate between virtual and in-person meetings.
The sun disappeared and we moved into the dining room for dinner.
It was a lovely, conversation-filled evening, and we would like to repeat it.
Further meetings will take place virtually on October 6, 2021 at 6:00 PM and live.
The event will take place again on November 11, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the restaurant, og.
The on-site meetings depend on the current COVID-19 situation.
Signed: Petra Netzel
